Who We Are

Grandmaster Augustine Torkornoo is a dedicated educator, counselor, and martial artist with over two decades of experience in personal development, leadership, and community service. Born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, Augustine’s journey in Taekwondo began at the age of eight, shaped by a deep desire to defend himself against bullying. However, his experience in martial arts quickly evolved beyond self-defense, transforming into a lifelong pursuit of self-improvement, discipline, and mentorship.

His early experiences with bullying led him to discover the profound impact of confidence, resilience, and peaceful conflict resolution, which he now imparts to students through his work as the Founder and Grandmaster Instructor at the International Martial Arts Academy (IMAA). For over 21 years, he has dedicated himself to training individuals in Taekwondo, instilling in them the principles of loyalty, honesty, courage, self-control, and respect—values that define a true martial artist and a well-rounded individual.

Beyond martial arts, Augustine is a certified professional school counselor, currently serving in the Alpine School District in Utah. His expertise in education is backed by a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from Utah Valley University. His work focuses on student empowerment, emotional intelligence, and academic excellence, ensuring that young individuals not only achieve success in their careers but also develop strong character and leadership skills.
